The Department of Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology at the Hospital Clínico San Carlos organized a robotic surgery course with the Mako robot on January 11th, in collaboration with Stryker, aimed at residents from hospitals in Madrid.
“The Essential Course in Robot-Assisted Surgery,” a practical introductory course in Robotic Surgery focusing on techniques for total hip and total knee arthroplasty surgeries.
The course took place at the Smart Health Center, which features designated spaces for surgical training areas, versatile work environments, and areas dedicated to innovative research and education. It is managed by the Innovation Unit-IdISSC.
For the past three years, the Hospital Clínico San Carlos has established itself as a leader in robotic techniques in traumatology, pioneering the first robotic knee prosthesis implants in Spain and performing the first robotic surgical intervention on the spine in a public hospital in the country. Additionally, it carried out the first total hip prosthesis assisted by robotic surgery.
